8 months and Crawling!!

Fall really is the best time of year. The trees are changing colors (which by the way is beautiful to see in the mountains again!), it's starting to cool off, I get to wear hoodies and boots, not too mention all of the fun things I get to do with my little lady this fall and winter. Violet is 8 months old and has become my little monkey. She likes to climb everything now that she can pull up, literally everything. She has these hilarious moments where she acts silly on purpose to make us laugh. She knows how to crawl, but still army crawls quite a bit. She LOVES to eat finger foods. She wants to hold anything and everything that you hold, and tries to throw a little tantrum when she doesn't get her way. The problem with this is that she's way too easily distracted and forgets about it once you place another toy in her hands. Silly baby :). Finally, she is growing some hair, which means bows!! She takes 2 naps a day, typically 1-2 hrs, goes to bed at 8 and gets up around 630 or 7. She naps best at her daycare and worst when scott and I are both home. I love her little personality more and more. Honestly, I think each stage of her growth is just a little more fun- I love how interactive she is now. She's not just a little blob of a baby! As I type, my monkey is trying to climb up my legs lol. To be frank, its been a little hellish to be on nights with a baby. I work from 5pm to 8am on Sunday and then monday thru thursday I work 6pm to 8am. I see Scott for a total of 30 min a day and I see Violet for about 2 hrs. Its tough stuff. My saving grace is having the weekends off. I love my night team and what I'm doing, but its not the best set up for family life. Luckily I'm almost done and then onto a much easier schedule.
Speaking of residency, its been such a fun ride. I LOVE what I do- it just doesn't get much better than delivering babies and taking care of women. I have a great bunch of co-residents and I'm learning a TON. Feels good to be at this point and even though the days are long and hard sometimes, I know these 4 years will fly by.
Scott is still working at Target and liking it more and more these days. They have been so flexible with him and his schedule, which is great since mine is not! He can always leave to pick Violet up from daycare on time. He takes such good care of Vi- I seriously couldnt ask for a better husband and partner thru my crazy schedule. I love him more all the time. Ok, enough cheesy wife moments :). What I'm really looking foward to (and him also) is when he can retire and be a stay at home daddy, but for now, we need his salary to help us get by!
We are getting family photos next weekend and I am soooo excited about it! Stay tuned for some cuteness...

Here's Vi at 8 months old. I know, I know, she is freaking adorable :)

7 months old

Well Vi is 7 months old now (and one week really) and just as cute as ever. She is such a good little girl. She is trying her hardest to crawl. She has the army crawl down and can push up to all fours and move her legs great, but she just cant quite figure out how to move her hands. Soon enough I'm sure. She's so stable sitting by herself now and is getting better and better standing. She can stand next to her play table without me spotting her all the time! I just can't believe how quickly she is growing up. I know at some point I should just get over it and realize that time will fly! She is so smiley and very happy. Oh and she LOVES any kind of food you put in front of her. Anything that you eat, she wants to eat, and anything that you have (cell phones, remotes), she wants to have. And if you don't give it to her, you better hide it because she will either find a way to get it, or whine for it. She loves drinking water from a regular cup- she thinks she's some kind of big kid or something! I just love her to pieces and am so proud of all of her milestones.

Both Scott and I are busy with work (scott a little less so thank goodness). I've been on my clinic rotation for the last month, which has been lovely hours. And next week, I start 5 weeks of nights. Yuck. It will be hard and kick my butt, but I know I can do anything for just 5 weeks. So wish me luck because you probably won't be hearing from me for a while.
Oh and we are loving Denver! Its a beautiful city to live in. We are heading up to Vail on Oct 17th for Scott's dirty 30! Pictures to come :)

Violet's half birthday

Crazy to believe that my beautiful little girl is 6 months old! Where does the time go?!?! She has been such a tremendous blessing in our lives. And she changes so much every day! The other day, while Scott and I were hiking, she said mama. I know it was a fluke, but Scott heard it too, so I know I didn't imagine it. Her 2 little teeth are so stinking adorable (although they are like daggers when she gets a hold of your finger). She's moving around like crazy. We put her down in one spot in her crib at night and by the time we get her up in the morning, she's facing the opposite way in a completely different spot. She's still a great sleeper. She takes great naps with the daycare and nanny and then refuses to nap too long on her days off with Scott or I. I think she's just trying to get every second she can with us, which is ok with me. She sits up better each day, but still has accidents regularly because she's not very steady. She loves eating and trying new foods. 6 months marks the end of breastfeeding and I'm super sad about it. It was so hard at first and such a task, but now that it's ending, I'm realizing just how much I actually do enjoy it. I have a lot of guilt about it. I'm already gone so much with work and now I'm taking this from her too, but I just can't keep my supply up. Hopefully with the next kiddo, I can make it to a year. I've been working on making lots of baby food instead as a way to make up for stopping (at least in my mind). Violet is such a little trooper and so friendly to everyone she comes across. I love her so very much and each day is all the more wonderful. Who knew being a mommy could be this great?!?!?!

Family time in Frisco Colorado (Our first weekend off together in 8 weeks!)

Vi loves bath time!!

Scott is busy with Target - working like a mad man for our family. Taking great care of me and Violet every step of the way. He is an outstanding hubby and daddy. We are some lucky ladies.

I am working long hours on labor and delivery but loving every second. I have delivered a little over 20 babies so far and been first assist on 3 c-sections. It is soooo cool to finally get to do it all instead of watching everything as med students tend to do. I love my program and my co-residents! I feel very reassured that I am doing the right thing and know I will feel very fulfilled in my profession. And while I'm regularly tired and not working out like I would like to be doing, I'm a happy mom, wife, and resident, so I guess you could say, I'm in a pretty good spot right now :). More soon.

A Lengthier Post :)

My posts have been so brief lately that I thought I would take a little time, while I have it, to write about our lives!

Scott first: he started his new position at a Target VERY nearby in Denver. The location is prime, but the store seems to be a bit of a mess. Which means he has his work cut out for him. Much like Scott always does, he's working super hard (and some long hours) to get the store in shape. He's still growing accustomed to the different mentality out here. If I had it my way, I'd fire our nanny and daycare and have Scott quit and be a full time daddy. However, our money trees aren't producing any dollars yet, so that retirement plan will have to wait a little while!

Me: Well going from being a stay at home mommy for 4 months to a full time (plus) employee has been an adjustment. What makes it worth it, I love what I'm doing. Well sort of. I'm on family medicine until July 22nd and while its great to learn about primary care, I miss my specialty! I am on labor and delivery (L&D) starting July 22nd and I am sooooo excited for it. L&D is typically long days (7-6:30), but it will be amazing to be doing a bunch of deliveries and managing labor! This doctor thing sure is a long path, but finally getting to this point makes it all worth it! And when we're not working, we are enjoying some good family time. There are so many parks here, so our new favorite past time is biking around Denver to different parks. We have a nice little kiddy trailer for Violet to ride in (which she loves) and that's how we get our work out in and hang out! We also went on our first hike this past weekend. It was a super easy one, but we got to try out our new fancy hiking pack for Vi  and spend some good quality family time. It was a blast! While on the hike, I was able to spread some of my grandma's ashes in this beautiful little babbling creek. It was a very serene, peaceful moment amongst our crazy lives right now.

Violet: she's changing like crazy these days! She's been rolling over non-stop. We put her on her back and she's immediately on her tummy the next second. She can even scoot around the floor. She grabs things, talks, laughs, and we even tried baby food this past weekend (carrots which she loved). She can hold her own bottle now, but not all the time. Still trying to breastfeed (we're about 75% breast 25% formula), but its a pain in the butt pumping at work, so we'll see how long I make it. She sleeps at least 8-9 hours most nights. Although last week we did hit a rough patch - they call it wonder week 19 and it totally exists.... We've seemed to work through that thank goodness. She's such a good baby, I feel so incredibly blessed. She has a nanny Mondays and Fridays (and one weekend a month) and goes to daycare Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is so hard leaving her day in and day out, but she's doing so well getting through it and being a trooper for us. I normally get home around 630 and she doesn't go to sleep until 9, so I get a good chunk of mommy time in that saves my day. I just love her to pieces and I love Scott for being such a great daddy!

Anyway, thats a little more thorough update on us :). Coming soon, 5 month photos of Violet!
